Hancock was simply denied a permit to film in Egypt due to his years of grifting and intentional distortions of Egypt's history. Permission to film in Egypt depends on many factors including how large of an established audience one has, where one wishes to film and what one wishes to film.
Hawass is essentially the gatekeeper of any further exploration there. Those “radical theories” have some legs to them and Hawass is trying to dissuade any further exploration… Less media coverage too.
